Dental bridges are design to fill in the spaces after your patient has lost one or more teeth. They use a combination of crown anchored to adjoining teeth with a replacement tooth held between them to close the gap in your patient’s smile. Each dental bridge must be carefully designed due to the different stresses placed on teeth in particular areas of the mouth.
Dental bridges are excellent solutions for making improvements to your patient’s oral health that will:
- Restore their ability to speak and chew normally
- Alleviate excess stress on their bite
- Replace removable partial dentures
- Prevent their remaining teeth from shifting out of position
- Improve the shape and volume of their face and enhance their smile
Depending on the solution you create, you may use one of several types of materials to create the bridge – porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, gold, or composite resin. Remind your patient to continue practicing good oral hygiene, as cleaning under his or her dental bridge is essential to maintaining good oral health.
